How does my homeowners insurance policy handle earthquakes?
Earthquake insurance is well worth it especially if you live close to faults where earthquakes are common like California. Standard homeowners, condo owners or renters insurance policies don’t cover earthquake damage to property and personal belongings. Instead, you can add earthquake coverage to your current policy through what’s known as a rider (add-on) or a separate earthquake insurance policy. Earthquake insurance does not cover fire, land, vehicles, or flood damages. However, in some cases limited additional coverage may be purchased in order to restore or stabilize land; protect against fires and floods; and protect vehicles. We’ll help you select the right coverages, and also we’ll ensure that any solution that you purchase is fitting.
